Jussi Pyky
Tamed by Oneself
3–29 November 2026
– Huuto’s first exhibitions in Itämerentalo, beside Cabel Factory,
Tammasaarenlaituri 3 (weekdays 12-4pm) / Tallberginkatu 2A
Animals move silently through the dark forest.
They keep a safe distance from me.
I know they are around me, even though I cannot see them.
I am calm, yet alert.
It is still and quiet.
I feel as though I am safe.
In solitude, in darkness, in silence – something emerges from within me.
It feels foreign and ancient – something we would like to hide, forget or tame.
Light reveals everything and makes us vulnerable.
It is the absence of darkness.
Perhaps that is why we want to light everything up.
Darkness offers protection.
Perhaps here I am safe from my other self, my daytime self.
The person of culture, education, reason and light.
The one who walks in the light.
Tamed by oneself.
